Why Your Facebook Ads Get Clicks but No Sales (7 Fixes)
Your ads are showing, people are clicking, and the money is going out. But the orders are not coming in. This is one of the most common problems we see. The good news is that it usually has a clear cause.
First, find where people drop off
Think of your ad as the start of a path: ad, click, page or chat, enquiry, sale. Look at each step and ask where people disappear.
- Many clicks, few enquiries: the problem is likely your page, your offer or your trust signals.
- Many enquiries, few sales: the problem is likely your follow-up, your price or the quality of leads.
- Few clicks: the problem is your ad itself.
Fix 1: Make the offer clearer
People do not buy because an ad exists. They buy because the offer is clear and worth it. Say what it is, who it is for, the price or starting price, and what happens next. "Fresh-cut hair extensions, delivered in Accra in 24 hours" beats "Best quality products."
Fix 2: Match the ad to the page
If your ad shows one product and the page opens on a general homepage, people leave. Send them to the exact product, or the exact chat, the ad talked about. Keep the same image, words and price.
Fix 3: Make the page work on a phone
Most of your visitors are on mobile, often on slow networks. Check that the page loads fast, text is readable, the button is easy to tap and the form is short. Every extra step costs you people.
Fix 4: Reply faster
Many Ghanaian customers message first. If you answer after hours, they have moved on. Aim to reply within minutes in opening hours, use saved replies for common questions, and tell people when you will respond.
Fix 5: Add proof
New customers worry about being cheated. Show real photos, reviews, delivery details, your address or business registration, and a way to reach you. Proof turns clicks into confidence.
Fix 6: Check your audience and tracking
You may be reaching the wrong people, such as people who like your page but will never buy. Try broader targeting or targeting based on past buyers. Also check that your tracking records sales properly, because Meta can only improve if it knows who bought.
Fix 7: Follow up with retargeting
Most people do not buy on the first visit. Show a reminder ad to people who visited your page, started a chat or added to cart. Use a different message, such as a review, an offer or an answer to a common worry.
A short checklist
- Is the offer clear in one sentence?
- Does the page match the ad?
- Does the page work well on a phone?
- Do we reply fast?
- Do we show proof?
- Is tracking set up for real sales?
- Are we retargeting visitors?
The takeaway
Clicks are not the goal. Sales are. Fix the path after the click and your ad spend often starts working without any change to the ad.
